Norm Gale

Norm was the City Manager of Thunder Bay for almost a decade.  Prior to that, he was the Chief of EMS for the City and District of Thunder Bay, a position he held from 2007-2015. Norm has also also held the positions of President of the Ontario Paramedic Chiefs Association, Chair of the Thunder Bay District Board of Health and President of the United Way of Thunder Bay.

He served as a front-line paramedic after a career in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Army communicator. He retired from the Army Reserve as a sergeant-major after 23 years of service.

A graduate of Confederation College’s paramedic program, Norm also holds an Honours Degree in history and political science and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Lakehead University.  He is now a sessional lecturer at university’s school of business.

Norm has been appointed to the Order of St. John and awarded the Canada Decoration and the EMS Exemplary Service Medal.

When he is not at work, Norm may be found on a running or cycling trail, playing the bagpipes or following baseball or other sports.
